IMG_8262Angelica is a professional full time artist. She was born and raised in Brindisi, a sunny, colorful seaside town among the beautiful beaches on the Adriatic Sea, and she attended the University in  Padova, a pretty city near Venice. She also traveled often throughout Italy visiting her extended family near Florence, Bologna, Torino, Brindisi, Lecce and many other places. She came to the US in the early 80’s, and started painting in 1996. Since then she has taken several Art classes in order to master different mediums and improve her techniques and she started teaching Art in 2005. Her commitment to excellence is reflected in the numerous Art Awards she has received. Her reputation as a skilled and enthusiastic Art teacher has made her a popular and loved Art Instructor.

Angelica was nominated among the Spokane’s 2008 and 2009 Best Artist Award recipients and continues to share her love for the arts and her knowledge with students and patrons of all ages, fostering individual growth within the community. Her Art Studio has also won 2nd place in Spokane’s “Z-Best” contest and besides appearing on several articles in the Spokesman Review she was also featured in the June/July 2009 issue of “Northwest Homes and lifestyles” and in the Italian-American Newspaper. She has shown and sold her work in several states, including CA, NY, AZ, MA, ID, CT, CO. Her work was also shown at at Stanford University in CA, and she continues to hold exhibits in the San Francisco Bay Area and WA state.

Angelica loves the landscapes, buildings, colors, and people of Italy.  Her painting allows her to revisit the lands and sights that are so familiar and such an intrinsic part of her.   Her favorite subjects are the ones that remind her of her sunny native land, Italy.

Art is expression, a means of communication. Art is the external extension of a human being, his inner soul; it always bears a small piece of the speaker, the Artist.  Art has no age or sex barriers.  Our gift of imagination and creativity is a door to youth, inner joy, hope and the eternal.

The eyes of my mind are constantly searching the world around me, with its colors, shapes and people. My joy stems from exploring and highlighting the ordinary to produce a piece that warms the viewer’s heart. I realize there is nothing completely new to “create” under the sun, therefore as artists we simply offer our interpretations of the world around us.    If a piece of my artwork compels someone to stop and ponder, if it conveys a positive emotion, then I am satisfied: I have been able to reach another human being.
You have heard the saying: “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”.  If that is true, then my artwork simply allows me to lend my eyes for all to see the colors of my inner being.
